Job Summary:

Roles in this level have prime responsibility for carrying out the execution of various on-going workshop related to welding. The role holder is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing welding processes and procedures to ensure the integrity and quality. This role will be collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize welding techniques, maintain safety standards, and troubleshoot welding-related issues.

 

The role holder will also provide technical support during production, turnaround and conduct quality assurance inspections, and ensure compliance with industry standards and specifications. By leveraging advanced welding technologies and methodologies, the Welding Engineer contributes to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the operations.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement welding processes and procedures tailored to specific projects and material requirements.
  • Carry out inspections and audits of welding activities to ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., ASME, API, AWS) and company specifications.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to maintenance field, production teams and other stakeholders as and when required addressing welding-related issues and suggesting solutions to improve processes.
  • Work closely with other function and various stakeholders (i.e., Maintenance Field, Engineering, Projects Management, Fabrication, etc.) to ensure seamless integration of welding activities into broader project plans.
  • Develop and deliver training programs related to welding techniques, safety practices, and equipment use to enhance team competency.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of welding processes, qualifications, and inspections, generating reports for internal and external audits as required.
  • Stay updated on emerging welding technologies and techniques, evaluating their applicability to company projects and processes.
  • Ensure that all welding activities are conducted in adherence to safety regulations and best practices to minimize risks and promote a safe working environment.

Desired Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Metallurgy, Welding Engineering or relevant discipline
  • Minimum of 8 – 10 years’ direct and relevant experience preferably within the Oil & Gas and Petrochemical or Heavy Manufacturing Industry.
  • Professional certification (e.g., Certified Welding Engineer (CWE), Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)) is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of various welding processes (e.g., MIG, TIG, Stick) and materials used in the industry
  • Familiar with industry standards and regulations governing welding practice
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with diverse teams.
