Job Summary:

Role in this level have prime responsibility for carrying out the execution of various on-going maintenance activities in the field of Rotating Machinery (steam turbine, gas turbine, centrifugal/ reciprocating compressors and pumps) by following sound engineering principles and practices. The primary accountability is daily maintenance and upkeep of plant under responsibility and execution of maintenance jobs as per the plan.  

 

The role holder will take a leading role in execution of corrective, preventive, and predictive actions. The role holder is also responsible for the safety & quality of maintenance work carried out in their area.  The role holder has a very significant role in carrying out proper execution of maintenance activities and keep the unforeseen shutdowns in plant to a minimum duration and effectively execute all the jobs in the shortest possible time. 

 

The role holder must ensure identification of obsolescence and ensuring that the plant is technically up to date. The role holder also focuses on management of change and projects related activities in their area and act as a link to the project team. The role holder administers and follow-up Management systems and participate in improvement projects and RCA studies. The role holder must ensure that all activities are carried out in compliance with the Company’s Occupational Health, Quality, Safety, Energy and Environment procedures.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Execute and monitor periodic, preventive, and corrective maintenance activities within the area of work (steam turbine, gas turbine, centrifugal/ reciprocating compressors and pumps).
  • Perform comprehensive condition monitoring activities, including vibration analysis, performance trending, and other predictive maintenance techniques, ensuring early detection of equipment deterioration. 
  • Conduct detailed oil and lubricant analysis for rotating equipment to assess lubricant health, detect wear mechanisms, and recommend preventive actions. 
  • Ensure strong knowledge and application of relevant API standards for rotating equipment, particularly those governing compressors and steam turbines (e.g., API 613, API 617, API 618, API 612), to maintain full compliance during maintenance, troubleshooting, and reliability assessments.
  • Ability to review and challenge repair proposals and scopes for steam turbines, compressors, and gas turbine components, with good awareness of the different repair techniques and practices used in these types of equipment.
  • Study frequent failures to recommend remedial actions and participate in Root cause Analysis studies as and when required.
  • Ensure Obsolescence identification and necessary remedial actions, and resolution of bad actors in consultation with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).
  • Supervise teams of supervisors assigned to various disciplines/ areas of work, carrying out maintenance activities to ensure continuous optimum operating condition of plant, equipment, and systems and that all work meets quality assurance standards.
  • Communicate and Co-ordinate with Turnaround section and Production teams to finalize the scope of work. Also provide technical inputs to Turnaround team for preparation of work packs, and assist Turnaround team for field job execution when requested.
  • Provide input for the development of plans and budgets (including OPEX, shutdown and capital spare) to ensure adequate provision has been made for anticipated activities and provide feedback of the expenses to ensure effective cost control.
  • Communicate and Co-ordinate between Planning Engineers, Supervisors, and end-users to ensure spares and materials are made available by Planning Engineers for schedule activities.
  • Communicate and Co-ordinate for Planning Engineers for updating the item master including item specifications, Bill of Material and new item codes in ERP as and when required.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in SAP, including work order management, notification processing, material reservations, and maintenance history tracking to support efficient maintenance execution and documentation.
  • Co-ordinate with Supply Chain department and Contractors for procurement/refurbishment of capital spares to ensure availability & maintain the records for critical capital spares as and when required.
  • Ensure execution of TA WO for plant improvements through management of change system. 
  • Actively participate in all project modification proposals related to his area of operation and provide necessary feedback based on the maintenance experience.
  • Develop and operate Procedures and Instructions for the maintenance of Management Systems towards Occupational Health, Safety, Environment, Energy and Quality. Identify and register safety risks and environmental aspects.
  • Participate in the studies, investigation, and improvement projects related to improvement of QAFCO’s plants, products, systems, and equipment.
  • Develop nationals into direct positions and follow-up their on-the-job development programs.
  • To participate in the call-duty to provide a full standby service outside working hours to support Plant operations.

Desired Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or relevant discipline. 
  • Minimum 8 years’ direct and relevant experience in a similar role, preferably within the Fertilizer, Petrochemical or Oil & Gas industry.
  • Experience in monitoring performance, preventive maintenance, repair, overhaul and troubleshooting of rotating equipment (steam turbine, gas turbine, centrifugal/ reciprocating compressors and pumps) and its auxiliaries are compulsory.
  • Internationally recognized certifications in condition monitoring (e.g., ISO CAT I/II/III/IV, American Institute or Mobius Institute) are preferred.
  • Holding international certifications in oil analysis (e.g., ICML MLA/MLT I/II/III) is preferred.
