Job Summary:

This role is responsible for supporting the QA/QC Manager & managing the Quality Control discipline and overseeing the development, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of quality activities to ensure full alignment with the Company’s strategy, commitments, and objectives. The position provides leadership to multi-disciplinary teams of Senior engineers and Inspectors, ensuring effective execution of quality requirements across the construction portfolio.

The role is focused on providing direction for technical problem-solving, decision-making, and analysis of the construction portfolio through innovative and analytical approaches. The role-holder is accountable for promoting, adhering to, and ensuring fulfillment of QAFCO’s Occupational Health & Safety, Environment, Energy, and Quality systems and standards.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead the /QC function for the major project, ensuring alignment with EPCC Contract requirements.
  • Oversee all QC activities on-site and at vendor/subcontractor locations during equipment fabrication and delivery.
  • Manage and allocate QC inspectors, ensuring timely execution of inspections and Requests for Inspection (RFIs).
  • Review and approve inspection reports, expediting reports, and inspection notifications submitted by EPCC Contractors and Subcontractors.
  • Liaise with Procurement to ensure quality requirements are embedded in material requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and purchase orders.
  • Identify and manage fabrication defects, ensuring timely resolution and documentation.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams to review subcontractor reports and implement corrective actions for identified quality issues.
  • Review Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) submitted by EPCC Contractors and Subcontractors for technical feasibility and contractual impact.
  • Work with Contracts Management to raise and manage Negative Variation Orders to back-charge EPCC Contractors for costs associated with non-conformances.
  • Review and approve deviation requests, concession requests, and material selection changes in coordination with engineering and procurement.
  • Continuously monitor construction activities to ensure correct interpretation and execution of technical contract documents, including drawings, specifications, and method statements.
  • Verify that construction works are performed in accordance with approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Lead the mechanical completion process, ensuring all systems, subsystems and components are installed, tested, and documented as per contract requirements.
  • Oversee punch list generation, verification, classification (A/B/C), and closure in coordination with EPCC Contractor and QAFCO discipline teams.
  • Ensure proper preservation of contract objects, equipment, spare parts, and special tools at site in accordance with EPCC Contract and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Monitor environmental conditions, storage practices, and handling procedures to prevent damage or degradation of materials.
  • Coordinate inspection of equipment upon arrival at site and during storage, ensuring compliance with preservation protocols.
  • Manage inspection schedules and logistics for critical equipment and systems, including vendor-supplied items.
  • Review inspection reports and ensure timely resolution of any identified issues or defects.
  • Coordinate with EPCC Contractor and QAFCO discipline engineers to ensure timely submission and approval of ITPs and inspection records.
  • Allocate QC resources to attend inspections and verify compliance with contractual and technical requirements.
  • Coordinate with engineering and procurement teams to assess technical feasibility of rectification measures.
  • Review quality-related reports submitted by EPCC Contractor and Subcontractors, including inspection summaries, test results, and NCRs.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams to evaluate technical implications and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support the QA/QC Manager in technical reviews of Contractor Claims and Variation Order Requests.
  • Identify quality-related risks and escalate critical issues to the QA/QC Manager and Project Director.
  • Shall ensure Project Close Out with EPCC Contractor in line with Project Information Manual (PIM) and Project Procedures.

Desired Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of work experience out of which 5 years shall be in the similar capacity within major projects environment of the Oil & Gas and Petrochemical Industry, or EPC company.
  • Having strong skills of Project Management, Leadership and team management.
