Job Summary:
The role has the responsibility to lead and manage multi-disciplinary construction team and ensure that Execution of Projects is executed in an efficient and systematic manner and according to good engineering practices to fulfill the Company’s goals and objectives. The role holder will also act as point of reference and apply expertise to resolve problems escalated by the construction Engineers / project coordinators/Contractors or project engineers during Execution phase. Also provide constructability input to new plant / facility modification projects, engineering phase and drive for flawless project execution/ completion.
The role holder has a prime role in ensuring proper coordination within multiple trades and customers to achieve smooth and safe execution of projects on site. The role-holder is responsible for ensuring that resources are properly utilized for executing projects in the Projects Department.
Key Accountabilities:
- Plan, manage and organize the activities of the Section to ensure that project execution activities are achieved within the set time schedules, scope, specification, and cost.
- Plan and prepare work scope between various departments, sections and disciplines during construction services, shutdown execution to ensure a smooth completion of planned activities.
- Set performance targets, provide feedback, motivate, and participate in the development of projects execution section. Participate in the recruitment and selection interviewing process.
- Ensure construction activities are conducted in accordance with regulatory requirements, valid standards, technical requirements, and good engineering practices to ensure that projects are executed in line with agreed specifications.
- Identify and implement comprehensive safety programs and initiatives to keep safety utmost in project execution. Demonstrate commitment to safety culture by participating in safety walkthrough, toolbox talk, applying a robust construction safety measure to manage the project safely.
- Actively contributes to balance the project execution portfolio in the Section, on short and long term, regarding contribution to safety, health, environment, profitability, and product quality, according to the company’s goals and objectives.
- Monitor Project execution Process and Cost to ensure adherence to targets.
- Review shutdown plan to achieve timely completion of shutdown project. Review the shutdown construction strategy to optimize use of construction manpower and equipment and continuous safety assessment.
- Prepare and follow-up Section Budget.
- Liaise closely with Plant Sections and other relevant Sections within the company concerning projects execution. Advise project team on change orders received during execution phase to estimate the claim raised by the contractors.
- Ensure day-to-day supervision and surveillance to projects. Resolve construction issues that may arise and communicate with PMT. Ensure construction team review site conditions and mitigate hazards/risks at site to ensure compliance with the company's policies and procedures including contractual requirements.
- Keep informed of technological developments in the area of responsibility to identify and recommend opportunities for increased effectiveness and/or cost reduction
- Develop the Section’s workforce and ensure construction personnel maintain required qualifications/ upgrade their competency through their assignments with project teams, ensure their developments with appropriate exposure to new technology and work processes; ensuring construction systems standardization is consistently applied by project teams via construction management manual and procedures.
- Involve in the development of nationals and follow-up the on-the-job development programs.
- Keep informed of technological developments in the area of responsibility to identify and recommend opportunities for increased effectiveness and/or cost reduction.
Desired Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering, or relevant discipline (master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in Fertilizer, Petrochemical, or Oil & Gas Industry, of which 3 years in leadership/ supervisory level.
