Job Summary
The role holder will be responsible to attend emergency calls, stand by duty, Fighting Fire, Rescue operations, Control access to site and carry out routine checking, inspections, servicing & operate safety and firefighting equipment, appliances to maintain the proper functioning of the emergency preparedness.
The role holder also has a role in providing & supplying the required safety/fire items for other users in plants and may act as Emergency Response Leader as and when required.
Key Accountabilities
- Acknowledge and respond to fire alarms, emergency calls, and ambulance services
- Perform firefighting, rescue operations, and control of chemical spills as instructed by the fire/safety in charge and incident controller
- Undertake checking, inspection, and preventive maintenance of safety and firefighting equipment
- Maintain communication procedures and respond to all types of communication with the emergency centre
- Review and communicate relevant lessons learned, industry alerts, and recommendations arising from incidents, inspections, audits, and emergency response activities. Ensure timely and accurate reporting of any findings, abnormalities, or unsafe conditions identified during routine inspections and site patrols
- Perform proper housekeeping in stores, workshops, break down areas & escape routes in order to keep proper & quick access for easy handling of emergency equipment
- Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives and provide recommendations to strengthen emergency preparedness, response capability, and operational effectiveness Maintain physical and mental fitness at all times and participate in firefighting, first aid, rescue training, and mock drills.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Minimum of High School in relevant discipline
- Minimum of 5 years direct and relevant experience within the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Fertiliser or heavy manufacturing industry
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. NFPA Firefighter I & II (or equivalent) and valid First Aid/CPR certifications are required. Certifications in HazMat Awareness and Operations, Basic Rescue Training, and other emergency response disciplines will be considered an added advantage
- Possession of valid Light and Heavy Vehicle Driving Licenses is mandatory. Valid Qatar Light and Heavy Vehicle Driving Licenses will be considered an advantage.
