Sr. Legal Counsel - Legal Operations

Job Summary:

The role holder reports to and assists the Head of Legal Operations and is responsible to handle legal matters assigned by Associate General Counsel – Legal Operations in providing quality legal services to clients (QAFCO’s management including QAFCO’s affiliates) in an effective and professional manner as may be required for the purpose of smooth running of legal operations with specific job description as explained below. 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Assist the company, particularly the Supply Chain Department and Commercial Division, in providing advice, drafting and negotiating, from legal perspective, the company’s tender documents, contract terms and conditions, and other supporting documents related to the company’s procurement activities (for services, purchase of goods, construction, project, IT, property lease, etc) to ensure that the company is protected in accordance with the company's interest, policies and procedures.
  • Provide mentoring to the members of the Legal Department, and training for relevant departments/divisions personnel or contractors/suppliers of the company’s contract terms & conditions. 
  • Conduct legal research and issuing legal opinions.
  • Handle legal disputes (contractual, 3rd parties, employment, tax) including managing litigation.
  • Handle legal matters related to merger, acquisition, joint venture, dissolution of company and its affiliates.
  • Handle confidentiality, non-disclosure agreement, etc.
  • Handle matters related intellectual property right, trademark, copyright of QAFCO and affiliate.
  • Manage corporate documentation (Articles of Associations, shareholder agreements, key agreements, approvals, registrations etc)
  • Assist Legal Department in building legal digitalization and AI utilization
  • Assist the company on other legal matters as requested by the General Counsel.

Desired Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or relevant discipline.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ relevant experience in legal function preferably within the petrochemical, energy or construction industries.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experienced in drafting and negotiating contract terms & conditions related to procurement activities.
